NDRL Competition Classes
PRO-COMP — The Wild Card of the Strip
Multiple indexes (8.00 to 11.00), front-engine thunder, all-run, no electronic tricks.
Pro-Comp is where you bring the brute and the brain. Front-engine dragsters, altereds, F/Cs, or roadsters lace up in this all-run class with index flexibility. You pick your target — 8.00, 8.50, 9.00, 9.50, 10.00, 10.50, or 11.00 — and then it’s a battle to stay as close as possible without breaking out. It’s raw, it’s risky, and it’s exactly what nostalgia drag is all about.
Pro-Comp Highlights
- Allowed cars: Front-engine dragsters, altereds, funny cars, and roadsters.
- Indexes: 8.00, 8.50, 9.00, 9.50, 10.00, 10.50, 11.00 — pick your poison and chase the number.
- Tree: .400 Pro Tree (standard across NDRL classes, except NSS).
- No electronic cheats: No EFI, NOS, delay or crossover boxes, traction control, or throttle controllers.
- Ignition & throttle: No programmable multi-point rev limiters or slew-rate controllers; throttle must be direct driver input — you are the traction control.
- Bye runs & laddering: #1 qualifier gets the first Bye; matches laddered after qualifying. Lane choice goes to the better qualifier or closest-to-index racer in later rounds.
- Safety: NHRA ET/MPH standards apply — proper belts, helmet, suit, head/neck restraints, and lower engine containment. Tech card must list class and index.
Always double-check the current NDRL rulebook for updates — indexes, safety specs, and your sanity may vary.
When Pro-Comp fires, there’s no second guessing. You declare your target index, stage, and send it — chasing that perfect run. Too aggressive? You bust out. Too careful? You’re out of the hunt. It’s the thinking racer’s class — a battle of brains, bravery, and big horsepower that never disappoints.
