Nostalgia Gasser — The Way It Used to Be
Straight-axle stance, nose in the air, no gimmicks — just honest, old-school gasser wars on the 1/8-mile.
Nostalgia Gasser is drag racing in its most raw, authentic form — grass-roots attitude with just enough structure to keep it honest. This class brings back the true spirit of the 1960s gasser wars, where skill, instinct, and nerve mattered more than electronics, data logs, or expensive technology.
Racers choose their own index in .10-second increments (6.00, 6.10, 6.20, etc.), then square off on a .500 handicap full tree. No throttle stops. No delay boxes. No electric or air shifters. No programmable ignition systems. It’s just your right foot, your reaction time, and the smell of race fuel hanging in the air.
At-a-Glance Rules (Highlights)
- Eligible Cars: Period-style gassers with the classic attitude — straight-axle front suspension and a nose-up stance. Think Tri-Fives, Willys, Anglias, Novas, and more.
- Index: Racer-chosen, in .10-second increments (6.00, 6.10, 6.20, etc.). Run as close as you dare without going under.
- Tree: .500 handicap full tree — your focus and timing do the talking.
- No Modern Crutches: No throttle stops, no delay or crossover boxes, no electric or air shifters, and no programmable ignition systems. Tuning and driving skill are the only “electronics” allowed.
- Look & Stance: Straight-axle front, period-correct gasser attitude — moon tanks, wild paint, mechanical injection or carbs, and that unmistakable nostalgia vibe.
- Safety: NHRA ET/MPH compliance required; driver gear must meet current SFI specs. Always verify belts, restraints, and recert intervals before you roll into the lanes.
Always verify the current rulebook for full details, class tech notes, and any updated safety or equipment requirements.
Every car in Nostalgia Gasser carries the unmistakable swagger of the era — straight-axle front ends, sky-high noses, front-mounted tanks, wild paint, and engines that sound like they’re trying to climb out of the frame. Whether it’s a snarling small block with mechanical injection or a rowdy carbureted big block, these cars look, sound, and run like the golden age of drag racing never stopped.
Raw. Loud. Simple. That’s Nostalgia Gasser.
The way it used to be — the way it should be.
