The first weekend out for the 2018 Competition Products-NDRL Championship Points Series is in the books and what a weekend it was. Over 100 teams unloaded on Thursday to get parked and to test for the first event of the season.
Racers wasted no time hitting the track to get ready for race day and it showed.

Quick Fuel Technology PRO Gas had forty cars qualify with the top 6 cars running dead on the index with Jaxon Messamore running dead 1 to take the Dishon Transmission Service low qualifier bonus. Semi Finals found Nick Dishon drilling Sal Petrulis on the tree pushing Petrulis under and Frankie Radake advancing on the bye. The final was all Dishon as the drill was still turning leading Radake to the stripe for his first win of the season.

Rod & Custom Machine PRO Comp unloaded seventeen cars ready to qualify with three of those running dead on the index to lead the way into eliminations. Illinois racer Bill Fuesting was standing tall taking the top spot running dead 1 to earn the Dishon Transmission Service low qualifier bonus and the bye into round one. Semi finals found Gary Williams advancing over a red light from David Risher to meet up with Shane Bowman who advanced on a bye. The final was all Bowman as Williams car slowed allowing Bowman to cruise to the victory.

Phenix Industries PRO 7.5 had twenty-six drivers drop the door to run for the money with the top three running dead on the index with Art Millet taking the number one spot and earning the Stanke Motorsports low qualifier bonus. Semi final pairings found Wayne Sears advancing over Pat Sywassink and David Shaffer advancing with the bye. The finals were pulled straight from the history books as Sears .007 light had him leaving second to Shaffer but taking the win with a faster run.

Ross Racing Engines PRO 7.0 had seventeen cars ready for battle and the action was furious. Gordon Horn found himself besting the rest of the field by running 7.013@201.52 to take the pole and the Stanke Motorsports low qualifier bonus.
Semi final pairings found Robbie Freels advancing over Jeffrey Sanborn to meet up with Mark Vaught who advanced over Larry Harlen. Vaught left first but Freels was able to reel him in taking the trophy home.

DRE Engine Diapers provided gift certificate for best losing packing from round one went to Shane Rasler.

The next stop in the Competition Products-NDRL Championship Points Series will take place June 14-16 at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky for the Holley National Hot Rod Reunion
